  • Engineering projects often rely on documentation that is fragmented, implementation-dependent, and difficult to preserve over long periods of time. As systems evolve, knowledge becomes distributed across source code, design documents, specifications, standards, and institutional experience, reducing reproducibility and increasing long-term maintenance costs.

    System Canon proposes a technology-independent canonical framework for describing engineering systems in a deterministic, structured, and implementation-neutral form. Rather than introducing another programming language, software framework, or modeling notation, it defines principles for creating stable and canonical specifications that remain understandable independently of particular technologies, programming languages, operating systems, or software implementations.

    The primary objective of the project is to establish a common engineering foundation capable of supporting long-term documentation, scientific publication, system architecture, formal specifications, and future machine-assisted engineering.

    This publication presents the foundational concepts of the System Canon project and establishes the initial canonical specification for its future development.
