  • EZ-P120 is a software reimplementation of the control logic of the Technics SL-P120, created as part of a restoration and retrofit project.

The original CD mechanism was removed after the laser assembly failed and replacement parts became impractical to source. The player was rebuilt around a Raspberry Pi while preserving the original chassis, front panel, VFD display, physical buttons, status LEDs, rear RCA outputs and front headphone jack.

From the outside, the unit still looks and behaves like the original player. Internally, it now uses a modern SATA optical drive, direct Linux CD-ROM control, a HiFiBerry DAC+, Bluetooth audio reception and a password-protected web remote.

EZ-P120 is an independent, unofficial project and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Technics.
