This is the version of the microscope used for a clinical study at Ifakara Health Institute, imaging Giemsa-stained blood smears to detect Plasmodium parasites for malaria diagnostics. It is equivalent to beta3, but with an improvement to reduce mechanical backlash by improving the design of the gear (!372).
