Slab is a tool for building custom Ubuntu disk images for lab and MAAS deployment. It wraps Packer and QEMU/KVM — automating ISO selection, package installation, and user/credential setup from reusable "profiles" — so you don't have to hand-edit Packer HCL and cloud-init files for every image variant.
It offers a desktop GUI (PySide6) and a CLI (slab), both built on a shared core pipeline, and produces .qcow2 images that can optionally be converted and packaged for upload to MAAS as custom boot resources. The project is currently being extended with a remote API + worker architecture (so builds can run on a dedicated server while the GUI runs on a laptop) and an optional natural-language interface for describing image requirements in plain English.

Effortless OS is an open-source AGPL-3.0+ operating system for decision-making, time valuation, and work reduction. It analyzes income, time, cognitive load, and task structure to determine what should be done, delegated, automated, or eliminated. The system is designed to reduce unnecessary effort while preserving identity, autonomy, and meaningful work, enabling users to design their lives through intentional subtraction rather than constant addition. https://roxanneardary.com/effortless-os/
